Grand Opening Party!!!

I am happy to say that I will be seeing clients at my Quincy location beginning January 17th.  To kick things off, I am hosting a grand opening party on January 16th (Sunday) from 4:00pm until 8:30pm.  Light refreshments will be served (wine & cheese). You will have a chance to check out the new studio space and enter to win one of several great giveaways.  This is an open house, so please feel free to come and go as you wish and to bring as many people as you want.  See you then!

Snow!

This morning, while I was shoveling out my car, my back started that old familiar ache.  You know the one...  it starts up about halfway through the driveway of the first snow and doesn't end til about March.

The action repeated for over an hour, and gave me time to think about a lot of things going on in my life.  A few months ago, while going through some old boxes of papers, my grandmother got a little teary-eyed.  She had come across a box of poetry and letters that her father, my Great-Grandfather, had penned back in the 30s and 40s.  She called my grandfather and myself over and we all took turns reading some of great-grandpa's works. There was one in particular that we all got a good chuckle out of.  Perhaps it was written on a day much like today...  after digging out of a storm while he had a free moment, scarce as those were.  If you don't mind, I'll share his words with you.

  Beautiful Snow!!!
Snow! Snow! Beautiful Snow,
Whence you come I fail to know;
You send me home to my hovel
To get boots, gloves and shovel.
Yet, your beauty, Snow, I feel,
Does not allure, nor appeal.
Won’t you please, for my sake,
Get on your way, jump in the lake.
All last summer, rivers dry,
No rain would fall, not even try;
But Nature never lets us down,
Though we may cuss, fret and frown;
She’s just gone modern in her moods
And delivers frozen goods.

---And ‘twas a White Christmas ‘n’ all that.

Maybe we'll have a white Christmas this year too.  It seems to be heading in that direction!  And should your back start to bother you whilst shoveling, just remember, I'm only a click or call away!  A massage can do wonders for stiff, sore muscles.

May you have a wonderful Christmas filled with family, friends, joy and peace. And may the new year bring you incredible adventures and life abundant and rich.

Oh Christmas Tree!

Wrestling packages in and out of the car, hoisting a Christmas Pine on and off the roof of the car and then lugging it into the house, climbing ladders in the frigid cold in order to decorate the house in lights...  all of these annual activities can be extremely taxing on the body.  Then there is the stress of picking out the right gifts, establishing a menu for the party, getting the cards sent out...  there is just so much to do this time of year in preparation of the big celebration!  It is easy to forget how to take care of ourselves during "holiday season".

Did you know that scientists have proven that even one 60 minute massage can benefit the body on the cellular level?  Massage has also been proven to boost the immune system through neuro-immuno modulation, override the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight urges) and reduce frequency and duration of stress-induced migraine headaches?  It's all true.  Massage is also a fantastic tool for joint mobilization (ease stiffness and pain from arthritis and other inflammatory conditions).

So-  if you are getting overwhelmed with all the festivities of the season, feeling run down from having to be in too many places at one time, or you just want to escape for an hour-  now is a great time to book a massage for yourself.  It'll help you stay healthy and relaxed and give you some much needed down time to recover physically from your latest marathon shopping at the mall.  :)

Kill two birds with one stone-  book yourself a session and if you purchase three gift certificates for others while you are here, your session is FREE!  My gift to you.

Merry Christmas, and stay healthy!

Lease Signing!

I'm sooo excited!  I'm signing the lease tomorrow at noon for my space in Quincy Center.  Cannot wait to get in and get set up.  I have visions of how it's all going to be when done.  Deep cocoas, soft blues, dramatic lighting, comfy seating, and the BEST massage around!

I will officially have access to the space January 1st, so stay tuned for a sweet party to kick things off :)

In other news...

Ever the proud Auntie, I welcomed my newest nephew into the world yesterday.  He looks like a tomato!  Cutest little 8lb munchkin ever.  Love you Chris, Ernie and Ryan. Welcome Jacob!

in the mail

To all my clients... I have now heard from several people that the owner of the salon, my former location,  has sent out a solicitation to you promoting her friend who is still in massage school. Please know that I cherish your loyalty and place great value on the work that we do together. Though you are free to go wherever you want, I hope that you will find your way back to Sanctuary Massage, now located in the Back Bay.
Peace and love.

What's in a name?

I chose the name Sanctuary Massage very carefully.  A sanctuary is a place to seek refuge.  It is a place to lay down your fears and anxieties and to allow healing and peace to permeate.  My desire is to allow clients to come in, take a deep breath and realize that they are in a safe place that will allow them to remove the baggage that life piles on.

What I offer is more than just massage. I offer an opportunity to heal.  Even if it is just for an hour...  the ability to enter into a quiet place, cry, laugh, joke, sleep, chat, sip a cup of tea, do whatever you need in order to relax and find peace.  It's my gift to you.

In my last posting, I shared about how I got into massage therapy in the first place and a bit about my current circumstances.  Just a brief update-  I found out this morning that I got a space in the Monroe Building at the Quincy Center T stop.  I'm very excited about this and I will be able to start seeing clients there in January.  Now to pray for the State of Massachusetts to move through the establishment licensing in speedy order!

With God all things are possible.
In His love,
Jen
